General Info About Program

Age and Eligibility

  • For children ages 5–14. Minimum age is 5 as of January 1 of the current season.
  • Co-ed program; divisions are based on ability, not age.
  • Players aged 15–16 may be eligible to play with Knobby’s Kids Hockey Seniors.
  • Participants enrolled in other organized hockey leagues are not eligible (goalie exceptions may apply).

Basic Rules

  • All skaters/players must wear a neck guard, approved hockey helmet with face mask, and ice skates (also applies at Family Skate events).
  • Equipment is provided through Knobby’s Kids Hockey and must be picked up before playing.
  • Only registered Knobby’s Kids Hockey participants and volunteers are permitted on the ice or in the bench area. No exceptions.

Pre-Registration for Returning Players

  • Returning participants receive early access to register before the season starts.
  • If your email has changed, send a message with subject NEW EMAIL to play@knobbyskids.ca.

Open Registration

  • New participants can request a registration package by emailing play@knobbyskids.ca with subject REGISTRATION.

Equipment Pickup

  • Held at WFS Ltd. / Windsor Factory Supply, 730 North Service Road, Windsor.
  • Typically scheduled on a Saturday in November.

Dates and Skate Times

  • Runs Saturday mornings from early December through early March (weather permitting).
  • Three one-hour sessions between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
  • Times are assigned based on past participation and registration details.
  • Skaters may only skate during their designated hour.
  • Times may change mid-season as skills improve or for special events (see Schedule).

Fees

  • No fees — equipment, skating, and hockey are provided for free.
  • Parents/guardians supply a personal mouth guard, protective cup, and any required hockey tape.

Parent / Guardian Supervision Required

  • A parent or guardian must be in attendance at the rink at all times.
  • The supervising adult must be listed on the registration form.
  • Children on the ice without supervision will be removed from the program.
